Foreign Ministry warns of fraudulent green card lottery websites

The Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry has issued a warning concerning fraudulent websites and emails posing as mediators for the green card lottery for legal stays in the USA that is organised each year by the US Department of State. The ministry's statement states the only legitimate website for signing up for the lottery is the one for the USA state lottery and that the application is free of charge. All other websites or emails requesting fees or personal data, mainly financial, for mediating an application for a green card are unauthorised and fraudulent, warns the ministry. They moreover advise people not to respond to such offers and under no circumstances to provide personal data or money with the aim of applying for the lottery.
