Slovakia declared the first terrorist alert on September 1 at 8.00 a.m. However, there is no reason to be worried. “The first - low level - is the basic level of terrorist threat. It's declared when there is no information from abroad on a terrorist threat targeting the Slovak Republic, its citizens or interests.” Peter Lazarov from the Interior Ministry press department explained adding this state is also declared in the case of the danger of a terrorist attack in one or more countries belonging to EU and NATO that is outside of Slovakia and has no connection with Slovakia.
There are four levels of terrorist threat, drafted by the Interior Ministry in accordance with EU-member states. The first-low level is followed by the second (increased), third (high) and fourth (critical) levels.
