In the following days, the first batch of financial aid provided by the Slovak national lottery company TIPOS will reach organisations providing help in coping with the refugee crisis. TIPOS has allocated €500,000 for humanitarian and integration aid to refugees, out of which €343,228 is intended to address the most urgent expenditures of seven humanitarian organisations. "We are very glad that we can get to the front line of dealing with the humanitarian crisis", said Jan Orlovsky, one of co-founders of the civic initiative Plea for Humanity and the director of the Open Society foundation. At the same time, Orlovsky points out that this is not a systematic measure to address the issue. "Directly from the location, we have information from organisations and volunteers that the situation in the south at the border is beyond the limits of capabilities of NGOs and individuals", said Orlovsky. According to Orlovsky, Slovakia and all the countries in the region affected by the refugee crisis should use their own capacities in the field of civic protection, crisis management and to deploy them on location. In this regard, Plea for Humanity is turning to the Slovak Government.
