The arrival of thousands of migrants in Europe is deteriorating the security situation, announced Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico after the Government session on Wednesday. "Despite expectations that the number of illegal migrants entering the European Union will gradually begin to decrease, the reality is the opposite," stressed PM Fico. As he pointed out approximately 250,000-300,000 illegal migrants come to the European Union on a monthly basis. "In this respect, nervousness in EU countries is growing," he said, adding that also Slovakia is starting to pay more attention to additional measures aimed at protecting the borders, despite the fact that Slovakia doesn't face negative consequences of illegal migration. PM Fico also perceives as dangerous the number of increasing extremist attacks in locations that serve migrants, mentioning Germany, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands. Fico reiterated that the Slovak Government rejects the permanent mandatory resettlement quota for migrants on principle.
