Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák arrived to Uruguay on Tuesday, October 27 for an official visit. The main aim of his trip is to confirm Slovakia's interest in intensifying political dialogue and economic exchange in Latin America and to create incentives for the development of cooperation with these countries in international organisations. Lajčák met with Uruguayan vice-president Raúl Fernando Sendic Rodríguez and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with respect to cooperation between both countries' foreign ministries. Lajčák also officially opened an honorary consulate in Montevideo. On Wednesday, October 28, Lajčák continued his Latin American tour meeting with Peruvian counterparts in Lima.
