A new, regular connection from Bratislava's M.R. Štefánik Airport to Berlin has been launched by the low-cost Irish airline Ryanair on Tuesday, with passengers able to travel via this route every day. The airline's connection to Brussels-Charleroi has been strengthened as well, which should result in more than 1.2 million passengers a year, said Ryanair's business and marketing manager Denis Barabaș. The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air is also likely to begin operating flights from Bratislava, according to a report in the SME daily on Tuesday. According to aviation news website slovakaviation.sk, the connections may be launched in March 2016. Wizz Air spokesman Daniel de Carvalho said that talks are being held with several airports. According to the website, it is likely Wizz Air would operate two connections: Bratislava to Skopje (Macedonia) twice a week and Bratislava to Sofia (Bulgaria) three times a week. This follows on last week's announcement from Russian low-cost carrier Pobeda which is to launch flights between Bratislava and Vnukovo Airport in Moscow as of December.
