Nearly 100 Roma pilgrims from Slovakia joined the 5000 pilgrims from all over the world to attend the International Gypsy Pilgrimage to Rome. Part of its official program on Monday, Oct. 26 is meeting with the pope Francis. The pilgrimage of Roma from Slovakia was prepared in collaboration with the Office of the Plenipotentiary for Roma Communities and the Archbishop's Office in Košice. The plenipotentiary Peter Pollák, as a representative of the Roma from the Slovak Republic will deliver a speech in the Roma language in front of the pope. The gift of Slovak Roma to the Holy Father is a hand-forged map of Slovakia with a Roma wheel and a carved dedication in Spanish.
