The Bratislava's Old Bridge, which is being reconstructed, has reached the other riverbank - the Old Town side of Danube in the early hours of Saturday. The bridge is to be completely assembled in early December and tram line number 1 could ride from the Central Station to Petržalka borough via the bridge in January 2016, announced Bratislava mayor Ivo Nesrovnal at a briefing on the same day. The works are to continue with the finishing of pillars on the Old Town side and with dismantling of an artificial island that was set up in order to carry out works from the river level. Initially, construction was to be finished by August, but then the deadline was postponed to October. The city then agreed on a final deadline of December 15. The project is co-financed by the European Union (85 percent), the state (10 percent) and Bratislava (5 percent). In order for the EU funds to be reimbursed, the works have to be finished by the end of the year.
