Five issues troubling Slovaks more than immigration

Unemployment and too few jobs, the increasing disparity between rich and poor and the high cost of living are the three single most frequent problems plaguing people, according to a survey that MVK agency carried out recently. The poll was conducted between September 26 and October 2 with a representative sample of 1,085 respondents. A total of 40.7 percent of people chose joblessness and too few vacancies as their foremost concern. And 37.9 percent of people said they were particularly troubled by the rich becoming ever richer while the degree of poverty is worsening. Third place was taken by high living costs; health care and crime were the fourth and fifth most serious issues, respectively. Only after the above came the hot-button issue of migrants and refugees (23.3 percent).
