Churches in Slovakia will continue to be funded from the state budget, as a proposal of four independent liberal MPs (independents Daniel Krajcer, Martin Chren, Juraj Miškov and Jozef Kollár) to change this was rejected in Parliament on Tuesday. The MPs proposed that each citizen should decide by themselves whether they want to allocate part of their taxes - up to 2 percent - to registered religious organisations. A similar scheme is already in place with the allocation of 2 percent from one's taxes to NGOs, charitable organisations and others.
More about this topic in the show on Monday, Oct 12.
