Volkswagen emissions scandal affects 46 thousand cars in Slovakia

The Volkswagen emissions scandal involving the rigging of diesel engines under test conditions concerns a total of 46 thousand vehicles of the Volkswagen Group that have been sold in Slovakia, of which 26 thousand are of Škoda brand. The numbers follow from an internal assessment. The problem also concerns Volkswagen, Audi and SEAT cars. "The identified cars were sold in authorised dealers of brands Volkswagen, Audi and SEAT. The importer will proceed in complying with Volkswagen AG's action plan on the improvement of emission properties of vehicles with diesel engines," said the company's PR manager Marek Chovanec. According to the action plan, Volkswagen and other affected car brands will present technical and construction solutions to the competent authorities that will address the emissions issue. Car owners will be informed in the months ahead. The company also emphasises that newly produced cars with engine EU6 are not affected.
