Russian low-cost airline comes to Bratislava

The budget air carrier Pobeda, a subsidiary airline of Aeroflot, will soon count Bratislava among its foreign destinations, according to the Russian news agency TASS. This stems from reports that the Russian Ministry of Transport has issued the relevant permits for international flights to seven destinations abroad. Flight paths were approved from Moscow to Bratislava, Dresden, Cologne, Bergamo, Salzburg, Chambery and Verona. Pobeda began ticket sales in November of 2014 and this year hopes to carry between 2.8 to 3.2 million passengers. Aeroflot created Pobeda due to Western sanctions imposed on Russia for its annexation of the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine. Pobeda gained 4th place amongst the world's best airlines according to the website Skyscanner, edging ahead of Ryanair, Air Asia, United and Wizzair.
