Pensioner attacked when his dog urinated on flowers

A 51 year old man from Trenčín faces charges of vandalism and battery for physically assaulting a 74-year-old dog owner back in April in front of an apartment building in Trenčín, TASR learnt from Trenčín Police Corps spokesperson Elena Antalová on Friday. According to Antalová, when the accused saw the elderly man letting his dog empty its bladder on flower beds in front of the building, he told him to take the animal for a walk alongside the Vah River instead. The pensioner retorted that the sidewalk is a public space and he can walk his dog wherever he wants. "After receiving this answer, the accused kicked the pensioner in his backside and hit him with a fist in such an unfortunate manner that the 74-year-old man fell to the ground. Landing in an awkward angle, the pensioner suffered a fractured ankle that required 34 days of rehabilitation", said Antalová. If found guilty, the attacker might face up to three years in jail.
