Government to cooperate with humanitarian organisations helping migrants

The Slovak Government will help humanitarian organisations that provide assistance to refugees, said 'A Plea for Humanity' representative Lucia Štasselová after meeting Prime Minister Robert Fico on Thursday. "The premier has requested a list of items that the organisations are in urgent need of in order to provide aid. We expect fair collaboration. We didn't discuss quotas, nor did we address political attitudes. We talked about there being specific people who need help. We didn't even discuss their being Christians, but that they need to be seen as human beings. The premier spoke along these lines, too", said Štasselová. Another meeting is set to take place next week. A total of seven NGOs should receive assistance from the Government. Prime Minister Robert Fico said that that solidarity needs to be expressed towards all those who truly need it. The Slovak Government remains of the opinion that most of the migrants coming to Europe are not genuine refugees but economic migrants.
