Slovak President Andrej Kiska and his Hungarian counterpart János Áder met on Tuesday, September 22 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the inclusion of caves in the Slovenský kras and Aggtelekský kras areas into the UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage List. The event, under the auspices of both presidents, also serves to express their appreciation for the role and mission of UNESCO, which was founded 70 years ago. Kiska and Áder unveiled a commemorative pole outside Baradla cave in Hungary and visited Domica cave in Slovakia. The caves of Slovenský and Aggtelekský kras have been listed since 1995. In 2000, the list was expanded to include the Dobšinská ice cave and Stratenská cave. Of all the caves in Slovakia on the UNESCO list only six are open to the public - Dobšinská ice, Gombasecká, Jasovská, Krásnohorská, Domica and Ochtinská aragonitová caves.
