Some asylum seekers refused to come to Slovakia, says Interior Ministry

A group of 24 migrants arrived at a refugee camp in Gabčíkovo (western Slovakia) on Thursday, September 17, with the next group arriving the following day. 20 people were planned to board the bus from Austria to Slovakia, however, only seven arrived at the Slovak camp. This was reported in the Pravda daily on Tuesday, September 22. Austrian Interior Ministry spokesman Alexander Marakovits confirmed that more people were planned to leave for Slovakia, but several of them refused to board the bus. "We cannot force them", said Marakovits, adding that the issue doesn't only concern Slovakia, as many migrants also refuse to move around within Austria. According to him, six migrants were en route to Gabčíkovo on Monday (September 21). The first refugees who arrived on Thursday reportedly appreciated the facility, especially the cleanliness and staff. The capacity of the facility is approximately 500. According to Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák, it is up to Austria as to whether it will use the facility to its full capacity.
