Families with four or more children will be able to use a 50 percent discount on the fee for the first registration of a larger car (category M1 vehicles with a minimum of six seats and engine power up to 110 kW). This comes after Parliament approved the change at a session on Tuesday. The amending proposal to the new law on income tax was submitted at the session by lawmakers Richard Vašečka, Miroslav Kadúc (both from the OLaNO party), Ján Podmanický and Vladimír Matejička (both Smer-SD). Families receiving a child-care allowance for at least four children under 18 years will be entitled to such a discount. The amendment is supposed to make it easier for families to be able to obtain such a vehicle, which is stated as an essential part of leading fully-fledged lives. "The reason for such a change is that more numerous families with children are often doomed to buy these types of cars as the only available means of transport to school and work", said the MPs.
