The Slovak film 'Eva Nova' by documentary maker Marko Škop with Emilia Vašaryová in the leading role beat 30 other films to win the Film Critics Prize (FIPRESCI) at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival. It's a powerful story about a woman who would do anything to win back the love of a person she hurt the most - her son. Eva is an abstaining alcoholic and a famous but retired actress. Now she wants to return to her old life. Strong emotions and powerful performances feature in Marko Škop's first non-documentary film. "It's an honour for the whole crew that participated in the film's creation", saidMarko Škop when receiving the award, thanking its lead actors.
