The state-run rail company Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ŽSSK) transported 15.3 million passengers within the free-train scheme over eight months. "These passengers make up a 42.2 percent share of all persons transported by state-contracted trains", spokesperson for ŽSSK Jana Morháčová informed. As of September 13, a total of 921,294 passengers were enrolled in the system which offers free rail transport for students and pensioners.
