The 21 year old Slovak citizen David Cerven who was shot by New Zealand police in August was unarmed according to a coroner's report cited by Radio New Zealand. The man, who was wanted in connection with three robberies, was surrounded by police in a park in Auckland when he allegedly said he was armed. They shot him after 20 minutes of failed negotiations. Police have repeatedly refused to confirm whether he was armed or whether a weapon was found.
