First deputy mayor of Žilina Patrik Groma on Monday sent a letter to Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák offering, free of charge for one year, an almost two-hectare area near the Dubná Skala quarry for the needs of Slovakia's migration policy. The area was considered in the past as a possible entrance to the Dubná Skala-Višňové motorway tunnel, and as many as 200 accommodation and office containers should also have been placed there. Two buildings are standing in the area in fact, and, according to Groma, they could be used for accommodating the "most vulnerable groups of refugees, such as mothers with children and entire families". "I personally believe that migrants also bring certain risks with them - cultural, religious, health and security ones - but solidarity is necessary, and it needs to be done not only with the heart, but also with reason", added Groma.
