NATO military equipment to be shipped through Slovakia

About 640 American soldiers with about 150 pieces of machinery will traverse the territory of the Slovak Republic in the coming days. They should enter the country on Monday, September 14, in the afternoon. They will move from the Czech - Slovak border crossing Brodské - Lanžhot to the nearest Slovak - Hungarian point. The soldiers will also sleep over in some of the Slovak Armed Forces' facilities. The equipment travelling via Slovak territory is a necessary part of a NATO military exercise that will take place in Hungary at the end of September. The route of the convoy will be secured by more than 100 members of the Slovak armed forces. "Such an exercise will set parameters for what it would mean to us if we needed to accept allies in greater extend, how many soldiers we would use to integrate those who would come to help us", said Pavel Macko, the second Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic.
