No violations of public order during Saturday events

Police detected no violations of public order with respect to Saturday's migration crisis-related events. Around a thousand demonstrators protested at SNP Square against the Islamisation of Europe, whereas hundreds of people flocked to the benefit concert Call for Humanity. During the protest march, the crowd chanted slogans such as 'Slovakia for Slovaks' and 'we're home here'. The demonstrators held placards reading 'we won't give up our homeland, we'll defend it' and urged passers-by to join them. Conversely, the concert Call for Humanity aimed at demonstrating the openness of the Slovakia's capital city. "Bratislava has always been a cosmopolitan city, where all ethnic groups live together. Seeing as protest marches tilted towards hatred ... we told ourselves that we cannot let intolerant people occupy public spaces. This is an opportunity to show, in a non-violent manner, that coexistence is possible with anyone, provided that the individual in question behaves in a similar fashion", Open Society Foundation director and event co-organiser Jan Orlovsky told the media. The initiative was conceived in the wake of the recent tragedy, when 71 dead migrants were found in a van in Austria close to the Slovak border.
