Biennial of Illustration Bratislava turns 50

The Biennial of Illustration Bratislava, BIB, celebrates its 50^th birthday over the coming days. The annual jubilee officially starts on Friday evening with an opening ceremony at the Slovak National Theatre. A prominent jury has awarded the British artist Laura Carlin the Grand Prix 2015. Her originals as well as other illustrations by 355 artists from over 50 countries will be on display in the House of Art in the centre of Bratislava until October 25. Out of the 15 Slovak entries, the publisher Artforum and the illustrator Monika Kompaníková were awarded. They were handed an honorary mention for the book Hlbokomorské rozprávky, The tales from the pelagic zone. BIB, the representative display of children's books illustrations, has become one of the most renowned presentations of its kind in the world. The works of each Grand Prix awardee from its 24 previous editions will also be on display at Bratislava castle until September 30.
