Smugglers of migrants use Slovakia for transit

Concerns about smugglers of migrants using also Slovak roads have been confirmed during the weekend. In less than 24 hours the Slovak police managed to detain two vans with nearly 60 migrants. Another vehicle was checked by the police near Štúrovo. A Hungarian van with 30 refugees mostly from Syria was stopped not far from the town of Nové Zámky on Saturday evening. A Hungarian driver, who was transporting 28 Syrians, was arrested near Žilina on Sunday morning. During the weekend people throughout Slovakia, including the personalities of society started signing an Internet Call for Humanity. They urge the Cabinet to instantly prepare an action plan to help refugees. Prime Minister Robert Fico convened an unscheduled session of the state's Security Council for Monday.
