Enel in negotiations with EPH on selling its stake in Slovenské elektrárne

The Italian energy company Enel announced on Monday that it has launched negotiations with the Czech company Energeticky a priemyselny holding (EPH) owned by Czech and Slovak entrepreneurs Daniel Kretinský and Patrik Tkáč from J&T, on selling its 66-percent stake in electricity generator Slovenské elektrárne (SE). According to Enel, depending on the outcome of the negotiations, Enel and EPH could sign a binding agreement in the next few weeks. Enel is the majority stakeholder in the power producer Slovenské elektrárne with the Slovak Republic being a minority owner, holding 34 percent of the stakes. "It's a decision by Enel, and the Economy Ministry won't comment on that. The priority for the Slovak Government remains to complete the third and fourth blocks at the Mochovce nuclear power plant, where we expect decisive steps from Enel - as the majority owner of Slovenské elektrárne - in order to finish the construction work and put the blocks into operation within the agreed deadlines", said Economy Ministry spokesperson Miriam Žiaková.
