Slovakia will have three additional sites where natural gas extraction is planned. They are all in the district of Michalovce in Eastern Slovakia. The company Nafta wants to begin with the extraction of combustible gas from next year in the villages of Moravany near Michalovce, Krasnovce, and Zemplínska Široká. However, Slovakia will remain dependent on natural gas imports. Domestic extraction of natural gas makes up only about 2 percent of total consumption.
