The cost of laying off an experienced employee for organisational reasons in Slovakia is still lower than in western European countries, according to a latest study done by Deloitte Legal, a consultancy firm covering 31 European countries. In Slovakia it costs about €35,000, while comparatively the process is the most expensive in Italy, Sweden, Belgium and Luxembourg; with costs reaching up to €60,000. Slovakia was among the countries with relatively higher dismissal costs only when the affected person had medium to long-term experience and at the same time the dismissal concerned the termination of their work contract due to organisational changes.
