Slovakia is holding talks with the European Commission (EC) about how much money from EU funds will not be paid for or reimbursed and would thus have to be paid from our own state coffer. Brussels is criticizing Slovakia mainly for flaws in public tenders in all the programs. One of the points of the European Commission is that of the deadlines of public procurement tenders. Deputy Prime Minister for Investments Ľubomír Vážny claims that paradoxically, these are in line with the Slovak legislature, however the EC does not take that into consideration.
The EC and Slovakia are currently discussing the total amount that will not be paid from eurofunds in all 11 operational programs. While Deputy Prime Minister for Investments Vážny hopes the outstanding sum will be in the range from thirty to one hundred million euro, unofficial sources expect it to be much higher. The two parties should reach an agreement on this issue in September.
