For the 2nd time in his career, Slovak white water athlete Matej Beňuš became the overall winner of the Canoe Slalom World Cup in the C1 discipline. Finishing 2nd, Beňuš confirmed his expected victory also in the final race of the 5th round of the World Cup series, which was held in Pau, France. In addition to the overall World Cup triumph, for Beňuš it is extremely important that he has increased his lead in the internal Slovak qualifications competition in bid to secure a much-coveted Slovak Olympic team spot for next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
