According to Prime Minister Robert Fico, the government respects the results of the recent referendum in Gabčíkovo, in which 96.6% of those who took part expressed their strong opposition to the establishment of a local camp to house temporary migrants on behalf of Austria. Fico said that the Cabinet will not ignore the referendum. According to him, the government is working on creating a system of severe measures that will ensure the safety of all Slovak citizens, and will guarantee there will not be any increased risk of danger, regardless of whether migrants are placed in temporary or permanent accommodation. These measures will include the immediate expulsion of any migrants caught breaking "game rules" on Slovak soil. The prime minister insisted that the EU's migration policy is flawed, and that current migration problems need to be addressed at their sources.
