Visitor numbers to Trenčín Castle sets new record

Trenčín Castle is attracting ever larger numbers of visitors, with last Sunday seeing a record number on any given day - 1,295, said the museum's marketing manager Peter Pastier on Thursday. Pastier said that the increase in visitors is partly thanks to changes introduced this year that have boosted the public appeal of the castle. "Trenčín Castle broke the record in terms of daily visitors on Sunday. That's a figure from an ordinary day when no event was taking place. Whereas, normally, anywhere between 650 and 800 people visit the castle on an ordinary day. Over the past year, however, daily visitor numbers have climbed to an average of 1,187" said Pastier. By way of comparison, the castle received 16,131 visitors in July 2014, with the number rising to 18,947 in July of this year. People are being drawn in by exhibitions, performances by falconers and old-time military camps, as well as the castle barracks in the courtyard. Pastier heralded further interesting events that will take place in the latter half of the summer season.
