The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) has issued a warning for high temperatures for Wednesday, August 5 and Thursday, August 6. On Wednesday, the air temperature will reach 33-35 degrees Celsius in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Nitra and Trnava with people being warned to avoid going outside in the sun from noon to 5pm. On Thursday in the west and south of Slovakia it is expected to get even hotter. In the Bratislava, Nitra, Trnava regions and part of Banská Bystrica, Trenčín and Košice temperatures will reach between 35-36 degrees Celsius. In Žilina and Prešov it will reach between 30-32 degrees.
