The Christian Democrats (KDH) and extra-parliamentary Sieť (Network) party are urging the Government to accept the results of a local referendum in Gabčíkovo (Trnava region) on Sunday whereby locals rejected the plan to have 500 asylum seekers from Austria temporarily placed in a Slovak University of Technology facility in the village. Christian Democrats called on the Cabinet to address the situation in a manner whereby it will both honour its commitment towards Austria and also heed the referendum's result. The Most-Hid party blames the lack of communication between the Government and locals for this situation.
