The number of dairy cows in Slovakia fell again on a yearly basis in 2014 - by 1 percent to 145,900, while the gradual slump since 2010 amounts to as much as 9.5 percent, the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry has reported in the latest Agrarian Market Information (ATIS) bulletin. Despite a decline in the number of dairy cows, production of raw milk was up by 1.6 percent year-on-year in 2014, and up by 3.3 percent compared to the statistics from 2010, stated the ministry in reference to data provided by the National Agriculture and Food Centre-Agriculture and Food Economy Research Institute of Slovakia.
