American M1 tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles may soon be granted access to travel through Slovakia on their way to military exercises in Hungary, which borders Ukraine, next year, according to a story in to the Napi Gazdasag newspaper last week. The controversial exercises are part of a NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) operation named Brave Warrior. "We know about the NATO exercise in Hungary. Currently we are negotiating with the US", said the Slovak Defense Ministry regarding the application for US military vehicles to travel through the territory of Slovakia. According to Reuters, early this year NATO decided to more than double its military presence in EU countries closest to Russia to better protect against threats.
