Bratislava's City Hall wants to plant 200 trees, 700 shrubs, 6,000 perennials as well as install new lawns throughout the city in a project scheduled to start this autumn. "We have already planted over 2,000 perennials and 400 shrubs on Franz Liszt Square, Florianske Square and Eugen Suchon Square, where a lawn was placed, too", said the mayor Ivo Nesrovnal. Areas delineated by the following streets - Križna and Karadzičová, Zahradnicka and Karadzičová, Suleková and Timravina, and Košicka and Pristavna - are to be spruced up by 3,800 perennials this autumn. Sturovo Square is to receive 120 shrubs while a total of 200 trees are to be planted in the boroughs of Old Town, New Town, Karlova Ves, Rača, Podunajske Biskupice, Petržalka and Ružinov. City Hall has also pinpointed several areas ready for an adopt-a-tree initiative - that is areas where one will be able to look after the greenery without being entitled to remuneration.
