Energy prices will not harmonise even inside the energy union

Energy prices will vary among EU member states after the implementation of the EU Energy Union, Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (URSO) Chairman Jozef Holjenčík announced at a press conference following a working meeting of regulatory offices heads of the Višegrád Group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) in Bratislava on Monday. According to him, the prices won't be unified, as each country has a different energy mix and different industrial structure and end buyers. All Višegrád countries support the Energy Union project; but with respect to conditions including the sovereignty of member states in the choice of having their own energy mix, and mindful of the security of supplies involving cross-border electricity and gas links. Additionally, the creation of possibilities for low-carbon economy technologies in order to increase the competitiveness of European industry is a proviso for their support of the Energy Union.
