PM Robert Fico sees no reason to accept more migrants

Slovakia's contribution towards resolving the migration crisis, consisting of accepting 100 Syrian Christians, is not pathetic but anchored in Slovakia's realistic take on the issue, Prime Minister Robert Fico said in response to foreign criticism of the Slovak migration policy. Fico vehemently rejected any such criticism, reiterating that Slovakia played a significant role in the decision not to embrace mandatory immigrant quotas within the EU, but that every state contributes towards resolving the crisis situation on a voluntary basis instead. "We want to accept a hundred migrants from Italy and Greece, and they'll be subject to selection," stressed Fico, adding that the priority criteria in the selection will be whether or not migrants stand a real chance of integrating themselves into Slovak society. "We have no reason to increase our commitment, as it's fully in line with the conclusions of the summit on migration."
