In comparison with other European Union countries Slovaks together with Spaniards are the worst informed about disaster risks in their region. Even fewer Slovaks (28 percent) have information about disaster risks when traveling to another EU country. These are results of a Eurobarometer survey that aimed to identify the knowledge and attitude of the EU population to activities in the field of civil defence. Slovaks consider television and the internet as their main sources of information. The survey showed that almost nine out of ten Slovaks expect support from other EU countries in the event of a disaster in Slovakia, the Pravda daily reports.
