The city of Košice has been observing an increasing number of visitors this year, with the number of people who were put up in accommodation facilities in the city rising by 7,511, or 9.44 percent on the year, over the first five months of 2015, according to the Košice Tourism Association. The number of nights tourists spent in the city increased by as much as 12,457, or 12.08 percent on an annual basis. "If we keep this trend of growth over the next seven months, then we'll certainly top 300,000 nights spent this year, which is something we only accomplished once - in 2013", said the association's executive director Iveta Niňajová. March saw what was the highest ever number of overnight stays during a month. The increasing number of visitors comes on the back of a greater deal of interest from corporate visitors in the city, where they visit a growing number of events such as meetings, congresses or conferences. This is also seen in the fact that four and three-star hotels contributed the most to the extra visitors and overnight stays in the first five months of the year.
