New rules for election in power

As of July 1, 2015, new legislation has come into force uniting basic rules for all manner of elections, including running election campaigns. It will also secure the more transparent financing of political parties and election campaigns. By adopting this legislation, Slovakia will no longer be monitored for not following through with European recommendations in this sphere. So far, particular elections and referenda were ruled by 6 particular acts. The new one sets a moratorium up to 48 hours ahead of the day of a particular election. It also brings a maximum limit to all pre-election campaign expenditures. Along with other novelties, new control mechanisms and sanctions for breaching the new law have been stipulated. The first to apply this legislation will be the parliamentary election 2016.
