Slovak president reveals his income

President Andrej Kiska has revealed for the first time how much he earns as Slovakia's head of state. His income from the public post reached €56,230 last year, according to his property declaration posted on the website of the Slovak Parliament. "It hardly is a high amount given the fact that it is the income of a person who serves as president", said political scientist Miroslav Kusý regarding Kiska's pay. On a related note, the president gave away his income last month to ten families in need, as chosen by the charitable organisations Plamienok Smile, the League Against Cancer, Good Angels, and the organisation for muscular dystrophy in Slovakia. Most of the recipients of the aid (€517.40 per family) are cancer patients with limited resources.
