City councillors in the Bratislava borough of Nove Mesto have tabled a proposal to restrict the opening hours of local businesses offering erotic services in response to mounting complaints from local inhabitants. "People mostly complained about the noise in the vicinity of these operations, as the majority of clients seeking erotic services arrive by car or taxi, particularly late at night", submitter Tomáš Korček told TASR. According to Korček, such businesses are situated in residential areas or even close to schools. Therefore, the councillor proposes to regulate the opening hours Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and supervise the compliance with strict checks by city police. At the moment, erotic businesses often stay open until 5 a.m. Simultaneously, Bratislava is also collecting signatures for a petition to ban gambling within city limits. In order to start the proceedings, officials need to collect at least 120,000 signatures - representing 30 percent of the city's population.
