More than one in two Slovaks (54%) choose their holiday destination on the Internet rather than the printed brochures of travel agencies. Only 18% of holidaymakers use the traditional brochures and this is expected to decline even further. Reasons given for using the internet were the amount of information available, the fact it was up-to-date, and the convenience of making a booking from home or work.
People who use agencies tended to be slightly poorer or working class, or elderly. Also, people wishing to have tailor-made, upmarket, more expensive trips used specialist travel agencies.
