Slovak police detain 27 migrants during weekend

Slovak police arrested 27 illegal migrants during the weekend travelling in international express trains from Hungary to Germany via Slovakia. This was reported on the television news program TV Markíza. On Saturday night (27/06) 24 migrants were detained, mostly from Syria and Iran, and on Sunday morning police from Nové Zámky arrested three migrants from the Ivory Coast, Bangladesh and Burkina Faso in Africa. The refugees told the TV Markíza reporter that Slovakia was not their final destination; that they were aiming for Germany. When asked why left their country, the migrant from Syria stated, "Because of the war, what else". According to the Police Corps Presidium Spokesperson Denisa Baloghová, the detainees will remain in police facilities in Sečovce and Medveďov before being returned to Hungary, while police will strengthen their checks on interstate trains. Over the same weekend, Hungarian authorities arrested almost 3,300 illegal migrants.
