Drunk bus driver faces up to five years in jail

The Žilina District Police Corps investigator has accused a 34-year-old bus driver of endangering people; driving under the influence of an addictive substance, Žilina Regional Police HQ spokesperson Radko Moravčík informed TASR on Sunday. A police patrol pulled over a bus on Na Horevaží Street in Žilina, shortly before 8 a.m. on Saturday (June 27), whereby the bus driver undertook a breathalyser test. The test revealed that the driver had 2.25 parts per thousand of alcohol in his breath whereas the limit in Slovakia is zero. He was carrying 54 passengers on his bus at the time. Police detained the driver and took his driver's licence on spot. "If found guilty, he faces two to five years in jail", said Moravčík.
