Peugeot Citroen workers to strike Monday unless demands met

Union representatives at PSA Peugeot Citroen Slovakia's car plant in Trnava announced on Tuesday that a strike will begin at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 29, KOVO PCAS Trnava trade union vice-chair Marek Vitek informed TASR on Tuesday. According to Vitek, negotiations with the company's management on a collective agreement for 2015 will continue this week. A meeting will be held on Thursday (June 25), maybe also on Friday (June 26), or also later if necessary. "If there's no agreement, we'll halt production at all workplaces on June 29", said Vitek. According to the car plant's spokesman Peter Švec, the company's management is taking the union's decision to call a strike into consideration. "Our willingness to look for compromises remains", said Švec, adding that the management is activating the procedure for preparing for the announced strike.
