Fico asks Supreme Court Chair to suggest new home for court

Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday repeated his pledge to ensure more appropriate space to house top judicial authorities. The Judicial Council is soon to be re-located to the Vice-governor's Palace in Bratislava's downtown while a new building for the Supreme Court is still being sought. The premier came up with his promise to Judicial Council chairperson Jana Bajánková and Supreme Court chairperson Daniela Švecová late last year, when the two officials attended a Government session in December. Speaking after a Cabinet session on Wednesday, Fico said that it is currently being decided as which section of the Vice-governor's Palace is to be allotted to Judicial Council officials. "The building is too large to be home to a single institution such as the Judicial Council, but some agreements have been made, and architects are addressing as to where exactly the offices could be located," said the premier. "I've asked the Supreme Court chairperson to come up with her own suggestions, and we'll make a concerted effort to meet her halfway," said Fico. Both the Judicial Council and the Supreme Court are currently housed in premises rented from the Justice Ministry.
