The statistics office of the European Union Eurostat announced June 15, that for 2014 over the whole EU there was a reduction in the burning of fossil fuels by 5% and the best results were seen in the Slovak Republic. The European Commission sees CO2 as a big problem when it comes to global warming and hopes to still reduce its production further by up to 80% of current levels. The highest levels in CO2 production were seen in Slovakia (14.1%), Denmark (10.7%), Slovenia (9.1%), the United Kingdom (8.7%) and France (8.2%).
